MANILA, Philippines— The Department of Health on Monday warned the public against organizing or going to events where a huge number of attendees is expected because of the risk of spreading the 2019 novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease (2019-nCoV ARD).

Avoid organizing events that draw huge crowds, DOH tells public

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III has strongly urged Filipinos to “avoid attending, participating in, and organizing events that draw a huge number of attendees.”

“The DOH likewise recommends the cancellation of such planned big events or mass gatherings until further advice,” the secretary said in an advisory.

“As the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus as a public health emergency of international concern, we urge the Filipino people not to panic and remain calm. Let us work together to prevent the virus from spreading. Let us remain vigilant and keep safe,” said CCP artistic director Chris Millado.
